Frequently asked questions

The automotive industry is changing rapidly. It is tough for the independent Dealer to compete with the large multi-franchise groups. Dealers United helps level the playing field by reducing costs. Here are answers to a few common questions...

Q: Why should I join Dealers United?
A:  Independent (private or family owned) Dealerships, often lack the ability to negotiate the best price or the best terms for many products and services required to run their business with maximum cost effectiveness. When we bring a large group of such Dealers together, the potential market gain (or loss) for a given supplier of products or services  can be significant. The balance in negotiations will generally shift to the benefit of the collective buying group.

Q: What types of products and services are included?
A: Literally almost every common operating product or service can benefit from a collective renegotiation.
Most importantly, the question is where would you most like to see savings? Marketing, power, telephone, insurance, fuel, training, panel and paint, websites, uniforms. The list goes on. We will continually canvass feed back from participating Dealers to rank both the types of savings and the perceived relative importance of each.
We then go to work identifying potential suppliers and vetting both pricing and terms to come up with the best possible benefits and savings.

Q: What is the cost of participation?
A: There is a flat membership subscription fee of $199 per year. This simply covers basic administration, website and communication costs.
There are no long term contracts. It is a simple year by year subscription via Paypal.

Q: How does Dealers United make money?
A: Dealers United negotiate an agency fee with each supplier as part of their terms of supply. This will vary with each supplier depending the amount of administrative, technical and communication input required from Dealers United. But suffice to say, the collective only works if we achieve substantial net savings for Dealer members.
Importantly, there is no requirement to accept any offer, or buy any product or service. Participation in any offer is entirely optional. Obviously, some offers may require a minimum number of participants to activate by a specific date. This is a feature of the Group Buying mechanism. When a  deal or offer closes, it is no longer available.

Q: How do we know if the "best" deal has been achieved?
A: It is an open market and you already know what your costs are. If we we do not achieve what you consider to be a fair and beneficial saving on a particular product or service, do not accept the offer. For our part, we are only interested in investigating supply from reputable sources on commercial terms.

Q: Why is this important? Our little business bounces along OK.
A: Most would agree that there has been a significant shift away from the independent or family owned Dealership, while a few large entities swallow up ever increasing market share. Most would say that the costs of marketing has increased and again, that there is a certain loss of control of options and costs.
If you have no cost pressures in your business - you are fortunate.
But, one of the most effective methods to ensure the lowest cost base is to adopt the simple collective power of a UNITED Dealers' group and level that playing field with the big guys. Your only cost is the annual subscription fee. The savings may be significant for Dealers of any size.
